If you haven't been checking the March Book Madness on the various social media outlets, you should--your work is everywhere! Thanks so much to all for the effort on that project. This week, probably midweek, we'll need to begin to generate the next round of graphics as the winners emerge.
You also can begin moving your write-ups of various things from your workspace on the Google site to the blog. Ask someone to edit for you, or we can figure out a rotation at our meeting. I need to get a better sense of where people are with alumni profiles and related projects.
Also at our meeting on Tuesday, with follow-up for Octavia on Wednesday: we need to sort the Instagram take-over protocol. Who will take which week/days? What's our objective as far as posts? How do you decide what to highlight? And whatever else you discussed last week.
On the horizon, and the skill for the week: researching the English archives, so we can have #TBT postings for later in the semester and/or summer (and possibly even this month, with Women's History Month, but we'll see what you can find). We have departmental archives, which I'll pull for Tuesday (photo albums, old Bywords from the 1990s and maybe before, old STYLUS and other literary magazines). There are also University archives that I'll show you how to search online and that you'll need to use work hours to go visit. We'll parcel out some decades--when did English start as a department? How was it represented in the early yearbooks/Diamondback? In mid-20th-century? In late 20th-century? We'll figure out search and reporting strategies.
